With our second event less than a week away Emily’s found time to reflect on how our launch event went. It’s almost two months and later (due to some very snotty babies and mums), but we’re super excited to see lots of you and your babies again (and hopefully some new faces too!). We’ve also got plenty more exciting events up our sleeves coming very soon…
So the morning of our Launch Event had arrived. It had taken many a coffee-fueled meeting to get to this stage and now we realised we had to see if anyone would come!
We decided the launch of Mummas & More should be one of our Tea, Talks & More events. The concept behind this event is to give Mummas something intellectual to think about and help to celebrate the amazing talents and specialisms that our local Ely Mummas have. As mothers, many conversations in our lives revolve around feeding, sleeping and nappies and we as people get a bit forgotten. So this event was to give mothers something else to talk about with other like minded mothers.
We held the event at the Babylon Gallery which was also exhibiting the glorious Matisse exhibition. This setting really made the event something special and with sunshine pouring through the windows we couldn’t have asked for better!
So goody bags were prepped, flowers were made, toys were positioned, patissiere cakes were poised, tea was brewing and babies were fed. All set, but would you come?
Before we knew it there was a rumbling of push chairs, a convoy of prams was heading towards the gallery, and over 35 mothers squeezed in the gallery with pushchairs and gurgling babies and children. It was so lovely to hear such a hub of noise!
Talks ranged from climate change in 5 minutes, professional patissiere, through to manta ray research and they went down a treat, with people saying how refreshing it was to listen to such inspirational mothers!
So with amazing cakes from the wonderful Fiona Patissiere, the great talks and the glorious setting we couldn’t have been more chuffed with how our first event went! Here’s to the next one!
